Dr. Sheri Rowen is a pioneer in the field of ophthalmology, with a reputation for quality eye care. Dr. Rowen has been recognized for her expertise. She currently offers eye surgery at her practice, along with new procedures that can now correct distance and near vision using the advanced technology. She also features a variety of cosmetic and skin care services. Dr. Sheri Rowen is well known for her expertise as a Baltimore LASIK Surgeon. Background
Dr. Rowen earned her medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine, graduating Cum Laude with Phi Beta Kappa honors. She completed her surgical internship at Johns Hopkins Hospital, along with a two-year research fellowship at the Hospital’s prestigious Wilmer Eye Institute. Dr. Rowen served as a Research Assistant for the National Institute of Health and the National Cancer Institute. She later completed a three-year residency in Ophthalmology with the University of Maryland,
Dr. Sheri Rowen has served as a Clinical Instructor at Johns Hopkins Hospital as well as a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Maryland. She is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery; she also served on the Board of Trustees for the ISCLS (International Society of Cosmetic Laser Systems). She lectures both nationally and internationally. She is widely respected in the communities, and considered a leading cosmetic surgeon / ophthalmologist.
Expertise
Dr. Sheri Rowen gained a worldwide reputation in her field after being one of the first ophthalmologists in the nation to offer “instant vision” surgery. This technique replaced traditional needle injection anesthesia with drops and uses painless micro incisions that heal without stitches or patches. Dr. Rowen also became the first physician to offer the earliest FDA-approved accommodating lens. Her continuing interest in the topic of lens implants prompted her to serve as one of ten investigators in a national study investigating the use of implantable contact lenses, beginning in 1997.
Dr. Rowen has been performing laser eye surgery since 1996. She has performed over 4,000 procedures, now with an enhancement rate of only 3%, far below the national average.
