It is an exciting new procedure available at our practice. With it, we can eliminate unwanted hair from virtually every area of the body, including the face, back, bikini line, and underarms. Even large areas of hair can be treated in just minutes. Patients finally have an alternative to the painful and time-consuming non-permanent treatments of the past.
During removal, light from a high-energy laser is directed towards the skin, disabling all hair follicles in the active growth phase. Several weeks after the first treatment, the treated hair will begin to fall out on its own. At this time, patients may notice new hair growth from other areas. This new growth will have to be removed in one of several follow-up sessions at our practice.
Because it is fast, effective, and permanent, it is quickly becoming one of the most popular cosmetic skin care treatments available. Microdermabrasion is one of several non-surgical skin rejuvenation techniques featured at our Baltimore and Overlea practice. We recommend it as an adjunct treatment for minor skin problems, including fine lines, crow's feet, acne scars, sun damage, age spots, large pores and small scars. After a session, skin feels smooth and soft, and patients leave our office with a healthy glow.
It is essentially a "polishing" of the skin. During treatment, a special device removes the layers of dead skin cells, revealing a new layer of healthy skin. Because the treatment is so gentle, it is appropriate for patients of all skin types, and can even be used on sensitive skin.
A session at our Baltimore microdermabrasion practice can last anywhere from 20 to 30 minutes. Thermage® Skin Tightening is a revolutionary, non-surgical treatment designed to lift and rejuvenate sagging skin. This lift, performed at our practice, requires no incisions, uses no lasers and has no downtime for the patient. It offers many of the benefits of the traditional facelift without the negative aspects of surgery, such as scarring and long recovery time. The treatment can tighten and firm the neck, rejuvenate jaw line and eyebrows, and it can also eliminate fine wrinkles and acne scars .
The procedure can be performed at our practice in less than an hour. During the treatment, a device known as ThermaCool™ delivers radio frequency to the patient’s skin. The deepest layer of skin is heated, while the outer layer is simultaneously cooled to increase patient’s comfort. The heating of the deepest layer of skin promotes collagen contraction, which produces a tightening effect. Over time, new collagen is formed, which results in further toning and firming of the skin.
Thermage® Skin Tightening is an extremely safe and effective option for patients who are not ready for a facelift. Prior to the procedure , the patient’s skin is numbed with an anesthetic cream. Laser skin resurfacing is a treatment designed to refresh the skin and remove skin irregularities such as age spots, sun damage, moderate to light wrinkling, discoloration, fine lines, blemishes, and acne scars. Laser treatments are safe and effective for the entire face, even the most sensitive areas, including the small crow’s feet near the eyes, and small lines near the mouth. During laser resurfacing treatments, a small hand piece delivers highly precise and controlled beams of light to the skin, removing dead skin cells and revealing a fresh new layer of skin. Wrinkles and scars are softened or completely removed, pores are minimized, and the texture of the skin is dramatically improved. Laser treatments also produce a tightening effect on the skin, with results similar to a lift. Laser skin resurfacing treatments are typically performed on an outpatient basis. Depending on the extent of treatment, a laser resurfacing session can last anywhere from a few minutes to an hour. Pain is generally managed with local anesthetic, or I.V. sedation if necessary. Patients can return to work within a week or so following treatment. Any redness will eventually fade, and can be covered with makeup in the meantime.

Fraxel Laser Treatment is a revolutionary way to improve the health and appearance of your skin. With it, we can take years off the look of your face, neck, chest and hands by erasing brown spots, smoothing wrinkles, reducing pore size, and improving the skin's overall texture and tone.
Because this is a laser treatment, it is non-invasive and extremely precise. The Fraxel laser beam treats only the spot at which it is directed, leaving adjacent skin undisturbed. Although the treatment area is very narrow, the Fraxel Laser Treatment penetrates deeply enough to promote true healing. This makes it ideal for correcting flaws without subjecting the patient to a major procedure. If a more extensive treatment is indicated, the non-invasive nature of the Fraxel Laser Treatment assures excellent results with minimal discomfort.
In order to assure minimal disruption of your busy schedule, the Fraxel Laser Treatment is usually performed in three to five visits at two- to four-week intervals. This treatment with IPL (intense pulsed light), offers a less invasive alternative to laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels. The treatments improve the surface of your skin, diminishing age spots, sunspots, facial redness (rosacea), dark pigmentation, wrinkles, facial veins, and more. Intense pulsed light can be applied to the face as part of a photofacial, and the treatment is also extremely effective for sun/age spots and pigmentation problems on the chest, neck, and hands.
During this treatments, a fluorescent light is directed towards the skin, where it delivers a series of gentle pulses that penetrate the skin’s surface. The treatments last only 20 minutes or so, and require no anesthesia. While other skin resurfacing treatments remove the outermost laser of skin, the treatments penetrate the skin without doing any damage to the surface. Because these treatments are non-ablative, (meaning the skin’s surface is left intact), there is no scarring, very little discomfort, and almost no recovery time. Multiple sessions are required for the best results. Skin will gradually improve after each session, and results can last for years.

Unsightly veins on the legs, face, and other areas of the body bother many of our patients. Traditionally, these veins have been treated with sclerotherapy, a process that requires the injection of a chemical solution directly into the vein.
Spider vein removal is extremely successful on the legs and body. Sclerotherapy is non-invasive, and patients can be out of our practice within an hour. There may be some swelling, bruising or redness following vein treatments, but overall, the treatments are extremely safe.

In addition to topical treatments for acne, we now feature the Blue Light treatment for adults and teens. The system delivers a high intensity light, which reacts with the bacteria that cause acne, unclogging pores, reducing inflammation and preventing future breakouts. The treatment itself requires only that the patient sit in front of a light panel for approximately 15 minutes once or twice a week. After eight sessions, skin will be noticeably smoother and acne will be cleared up for an extended period of time. The Blue Light therapy is completely painless, and has no known side effects. The treatment is an excellent alternative to conventional acne treatments, and produces significantly better results.

The Peel is a light chemical peel that improves the texture of the skin, and diminishes fine wrinkling, age spots, sun damage and acne scars. The peel is composed of a blue solution mixed with TCA (trichloroacetic acid). During a peel, this solution is applied to the skin one to four times, depending on the desired results. Because TCA is a slow acting acid, the physician has greater control over the outcome of a peel, and the depth of the peel can be tailored to the needs of each individual patient.
It can be performed on problem areas throughout the body, including the face, neck, chest, arms and legs. Patients can expect a mild burning sensation for several minutes once the solution is applied. The skin might retain a slight bluish tint from 12 to 24 hours following the peel, but this is only temporary and will wash away. Peeling will begin a few days after treatment, and recovery is complete within one to two weeks.
